The Infinity Saga Snapchat Experience was a collaborative marketing effort involving Disney, Marvel Studios, Verizon, Google Creativeworks, and Snap to promote the Google Pixel 6 and reward Verizon 5G users. It centered on the MCU’s Infinity Saga, offering fans five unique AR Snapchat lenses with over 50 VFX effects, themed around characters like Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Gamora, Ant-Man, and The Wasp. The experience showcased advanced AR capabilities and leveraged Verizon’s network for enhanced performance, with some lenses exclusive to 4G or enhanced on 5G networks for immersive visual effects.

Design Challenge

The challenge lies in effectively promoting the imminent launch of the Google Pixel 6 alongside the introduction of Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network. The goal is to develop a captivating social lens on Snapchat that not only utilizes Snap’s latest AR capabilities to engage users but also seamlessly integrates the Google Pixel 6 and Verizon 5G branding. This lens must be designed to not only entertain but also educate users on the advantages of 5G technology and the Google Pixel 6, encouraging interaction, shareability, and ultimately driving awareness and adoption of both the new smartphone and the advanced network technology.

The Results

  • Implemented advanced features in each Snapchat lens, incorporating body-tracking, machine learning, and sky segmentation for characters Thor, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man & The Wasp, and Gamora.
  • Utilized the maximum file size of 50MB for richer visual experiences.
  • Achieved significant trending status on Snapchat following the launch.
  • Secured the 2023 Webby Awards People’s Voice for Best Use of Filters/Lenses.
