The challenge was to create a way to extend the battery life of a GoPro so that it could operate for an entire workday. First we created a custom enclosure with space for a modified USB plug. Next we fitted the GoPro with a 7000 mA battery pack and solar panel. When mounted to a helmet and backpack, this unit allowed for 6.5 hours of continuous use or 8.5 hours of sporadic use, roughly 6 times what a normal battery will last.
